Can you take a caravan, campervan or motorhome to Glastonbury?

First things first, what kind of wheels can you take? We’ve found out, so you don’t have to.

Can you take a campervan to Glastonbury festival?

Yes, you just need to purchase a camper/caravan ticket for your pitch.

Can you take a motorhome to Glastonbury festival?

Yes! Campervans, caravans, RVs and other motorhomes are all welcome on a pitch.

Can you take a caravan to Glastonbury festival?

Yes, although you may need to opt for a larger pitch size for any extra-large Class A motorhomes.

The booking process for Glastonbury campervan tickets requires planning ahead. First, register on the official Glastonbury website in the weeks before tickets go on sale (usually in November for the following year). After securing your festival tickets, campervan tickets are sold separately a few weeks later.

Are there any restrictions on what kind of campervan you can bring?

One important thing to remember: Glastonbury has strict rules about what qualifies as a campervan or motorhome.

Only vehicles with proper, fitted sleeping facilities and either cooking or washing amenities will be allowed into the campervan fields.

This means that regular vans with just a mattress thrown in the back won’t make the cut! Festival staff can be quite strict about this, so we wouldn’t advise trying to bend the rules – you could be left without a pitch.

The different kinds of pitches available

When bringing your home-on-wheels to Glastonbury, you’ll need to choose from four different pitch options:

  1. East Quiet Campervans/Hired, Delivered Vehicle Pitches (Blue Route): Perfect for families or those who prefer a more peaceful atmosphere. These pitches measure up to 8m x 7m and can accommodate vehicles up to 8m in length. They offer easier access to the festival grounds, making them ideal if you have accessibility requirements.

  2. East General Campervans (Blue Route): These pitches are the same size as the quiet option (8m x 7m for vehicles up to 8m long), but without the noise restrictions. If you’re planning to socialise a bit more with your festival neighbours, this could be the right choice for you.

  3. Bath & West Campervans Regular Pitch (White Route): Located at the Bath & West Showground rather than on the main festival site, these pitches also measure 8m x 7m for vehicles up to 8m long. While they’re a bit further from the action, there’s a free 24-hour shuttle bus service to transport you to and from the festival grounds.

  4. Bath & West Campervans Large Pitch (White Route): If you’re bringing a larger motorhome or caravan that’s over 8m in length, you’ll need to book one of these spacious pitches, which measure up to 16m x 7m. These are also at the Bath & West Showground with access to the shuttle service.

Knowing this in advance can help you mull over which you’d prefer to opt for if you get the choice when you arrive.

When can you book your motorhome ticket?

We’d advise booking your campervan or motorhome ticket as soon as possible once they’re released. There are only a limited number of pitches, and they usually sell out extremely quickly.

How much do they cost?

The prices for campervan/caravan tickets for 2025 were:

  • £200 for a standard pitch
  • £300 for a large pitch

A tent pitch is included in the cost of your festival ticket, so attending in a camper does cost extra. However, we think it’s well worth it if you want a more comfortable experience and a better night’s sleep.

As it’s a truly bucket list festival, being able to rest well after the long nights of dancing will mean you’re able to get more from the experience. Plus, having cooking facilities could save you a fair bit compared to eating at food trucks for every meal.

Can you reserve a pitch?

Unfortunately not! Pitches operate on a first-come, first-served basis. So if you want to pitch up next to pals or in a specific spot, you’ll need to get there in advance.

Where do you leave your car?

If you’re towing your caravan, you might be in luck as some of the pitches have space for a car next to them. Having said this, it’s not a guarantee. However, if you need to drop your car at the designated car park, it won’t be far away.

Can I bring a tent?

Again, if you can fit a tent into the confines of the pitch, you’re allowed to pitch one up. This might be helpful if you’re bringing teenagers along! However, it’s not a given, so they could end up having to pitch up in the designated tent campsite zones.

8 festival essentials to bring in your camper

Here are our top suggestions for the items you’ll be glad you packed when you bring your caravan to Glastonbury!

  1. Power banks and chargers: Unfortunately, there’s no electricity provided in the campervan fields. There are mobile charging stations throughout the festival, but you can save yourself headaches waiting for one by bringing some fully-charged power banks with you in your camper. Can’t live without a blow dry? A solar-powered Jackery power bank is a favourite of the glamping community! You’ll be able to run electric devices from it.
  2. Wellies and waterproofs: It’s Glastonbury after all. Even in good weather, the fields can get slippery and muddy. Plus, wellies are festival chic so you’ll look the part.
  3. Comfortable camping chairs: After a long day out and about, you’ll appreciate having a proper place to sit and relax outside your camper.
  4. Reusable water bottles: There are plenty of water points throughout the festival site, so bring a more planet-friendly bottle to fill up. Remember, heat plus dancing equals thirst. Don’t get dehydrated and ruin your weekend.
  5. Portable BBQ: As long as it can be used off the ground, you’re allowed to bring a BBQ for cooking outside your campervan. You’ll be everyone’s favourite when you get cooking the sausages for butties in the morning!
  6. First aid kit: It’s great to have medical essentials for any festival mishaps – plasters, paracetamol, and antiseptic wipes are essential.
  7. A torch or headlamp: Crucial for those late-night trips to the toilets or finding your way back to your camper after the headliners.
  8. Earplugs and an eye mask: Even in the quiet campervan areas, festivals can be noisy places. These will help ensure you get some rest.

Tips for taking a campervan to Glasto

Arrive early to secure the best spot

The campervan fields open at midday on the Tuesday before the festival. As pitches are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, we wouldn’t want you to miss out on getting your choice of pitch or being near friends or family.

Plan your route carefully

If you’re heading for the East General or East Quiet campervan pitches (Blue Route), take the A37 from the North or South. If coming from the East, use the A361. For Bath & West Showground pitches (White Route), you’ll need to access via the A371. Make sure to have your route planned before setting off to avoid any last-minute stress.

Get settled before you hit the festival

We know it’s exciting, but resist the temptation to rush off into the festival without setting up the basics. No one wants to have to try to set up an awning after a few drinks, or not know where the nearest toilet blocks are when nature calls. You’ll thank yourself later.

Prepare for every kind of weather

If you’ve ever been to Glastonbury before, you’ll know that you’re likely to encounter 4 seasons in 1 day. In a pinch, a wet towel hung by an open window can help cool your van during hot weather. And pack those extra blankets to keep you cosy if temperatures drop at night.

Keep your camper secure

Always make sure to lock your van properly and close all windows before leaving for the festival. Although Glastonbury has a wonderful community spirit, it’s still sensible to keep valuables out of sight or take them with you.

Pack smart

A handy trick is to pack your outfits for each day separately in packing cubes or ziplock bags. This means you can easily grab what you need without raiding the cupboards. This tip can help stop your camper from turning into a bomb site during the festival.

Make the most of having a camper!

Enjoy the smug feeling of bringing a caravan or camper to Glastonbury when you can escape to it to use the loo if the toilet lines are long. Plus, having kitchen facilities means no having to stumble back into the festival just to get a cup of tea and some breakfast in the morning.

We’d suggest packing a mixture of easy meals to make and snacks to keep your blood sugar up during the long days, like cereal bars and fruit.

Leaving Glastonbury in your motorhome

When all the music’s over and you’re ready to head home, here’s what you need to know. The campervan fields remain open until Monday evening, so there’s no need to rush off on Sunday night -you can see the final night through if you want to.

From noon on Sunday, you’ll be able to start exiting the site, but be aware that the Blue Route becomes a one-way system after 2 pm to keep traffic flowing smoothly. This means you won’t be able to drive back into the campsite after this time, so make sure you’ve packed everything before hitting the road.

Before you leave, remember to:

  • Empty your wastewater tanks in the designated wastewater containers
  • Take your rubbish to the bins provided, don’t litter
  • Leave a clean pitch – the farm will thank you for it!
